June 4
The weather has changed with more cloud cover. Colder. Foggier. Seas a little more choppy.
Today, we will visit the Five Finger Island Lighthouse one of the first U.S. government lighthouses that opened in Alaska, First lit on March 21, 1902, it was the last lighthouse to be automated on August 14, 1984.
Afterwards we looked for whales and sea lions. We passed an upside down Christmas tree hanging off a cliff. We wanted to decorate it with lights.
We saw sea lions sunning and braying on the rocks. Video here. Orcas (also known as killer whales) swam next our boat. Video. The females and thier pups were playing with us. Then we experienced a porpoise run!! Brinkley shot this video.
Small growlers and larger bergy bits began to appear. Video here. Al grabbed some Alaskan ice for dinner drinks and ice chests.
Nancy, Brinkley and Bryan kayaked for a long time. Steak dinner tonight.
Later, Brinkley made Moscow Mules for everyone. Yum!
